The news raider.

I read today with interest how one man is protesting against the media. More particularly he is making a statement about the media and its image consciousness. Paul Yarrow is a fat balding care worker from London and wants a greater voice for  ‘ugly’ people in the media. Go Paul Yarrow I say.
One thing i have a growing dislike for is commentators interviewing sports stars at the end of a race or game and saying “well done, you did us proud today”. No they did themselves proud - fool.

You cannot beat Beetles.

We have found loads of great beetles around our house recently. I guess its one of the benefits of living somewhere less urban. Not that everyone thinks this is a good thing. Last week we found a Sexton Beetle, which was pretty big and totally toptastic. Today we found this great looking wasp beetle just… sitting. Personally i love Beetles. They are quite amusing really. I guess they are non threatening too - even the children will take a look.

Geocaching - what? LETTERBOXING.

I heard about this new phenonema this evening call geocaching. Essentially this is letterboxing for the modern GPS ready age. I remember stumbling across letterboxes on Dartmoor during our forays up there. These were basically tupperware boxes secreted under rocks, holes in the ground or in a bush. Inside the box you would find a stamp to add to your letterboxing collectors book and a visitors book to leave a comment in and perhaps for the ardent boxer leave your own stamp in. I was never a ‘letterboxer’ but i think this is the basic premise.
Geocaching is a world wide cache hunt. As i understand it you can seek out a cache and once found add to it or replace the contents with something more valuable. You can also create your own cache and leave a location for others to find. I like the whole idea of this. I want in. I am going to go and find a good hiding place for my cache and sign up. Get your glasses ready.
