The UC project work has consumed virtually all of 2005 so far, but the end really is nigh.
From the outset i wanted to undertake a journey on which both end and start points would be visible at all times. I wanted to explore the notion of ‘where am I’ in terms of our past and future through this quite literal pursuit. I was also interested in exploring what is art - what am I trying to achieve. Is art naturally the capture of a view, state of mind or happening and therefore a record, something taken from the past. Once something is created it is finished. It’s time has passed. Our experiences with the creation can live on, but it’s subject can only be revisited.

uc17 Scale - At any one point one can be drawn into the macro nature of the immediate environment
or into surveying the extent of that which has past.
One can always make associations in an attempt to understand and gain the most from a situation, by drawing upon a past experience.

uc14 Longing#2 (Macks) - When it's all taken away, longing to have it back again.
Unable to reach that which you know is so great. Life in a bucket.
uc13 Longing#1 (Freddie's 6) - Being drawn in. Satisfaction in where you are, yet longing for something more.
uc12 - Harbour. A place of safety and respite.
uc11 - Missing 5 - Being broken#2. Do you ever get into a position where you are having to concentrate so intently on a task that the bigger picture is lost, no matter how fine it may be? You may be aware it is there, but you can't see it because you've got to concentrate on the what your involved with.
Being broken can be a good thing. At least there is usually a reward, a feeling of satisfaction. Accomplishment.
uc10 Being enveloped, wrapped up. Minor pursuits - Melting, burning and sinking.
uc09 - We'd love one. Contemplation and reflection while aware of 'this place'.
UC8 COMEforT - the one place on our route with which we are most familiar. We've often stayed here.
We were unable to settle. Something was amiss. Maybe it was Woko?
UC 07 Who! where?
Distracted. With squit been'er? Liquid subterfuge.
UC 05 - Missing. The spot.
UC 04 - Broken. H first to be broken by the extent of sand. It drags on.
Lost in the activity of moving on.
uc03 Saunton - the extent of it is now clear.
uc02 Missing - Dig'er. Reflecting on mistakes, a path we should have taken. Something missed.
uc1 - Beginning. Entering into something bigger than anticipated
uc19 The Point - The end - Did I know where to begin?
uc18 knOWN - What we have past we have seen yet do not know.
What we can see helps us construe expectations, but leaves us knowing little.
Only by living with something (this means more than spending time) can we begin to
know and feel a sense of OWNership.
